Additional Details

Second printing of Micheaux's first book. Self-published, both printings were very small. Micheaux, a successful farmer, was defrauded by his in-laws and lost his land. He took to writing lurid "pulp fiction" to earn a living, eventually turning to the new medium of film. For the most part he filmed his own tales, and his films are considered classics of the genre.<
